Which board is right for you?
There is no such thing as a daft question.
If you're just starting out with surfing, we'd recommend going for a board about 3 feet taller than you, this makes getting into waves a lot easier and provides a steady base to get you standing up!
When starting out a softboard is a great option, they come with a lot less risk and will make you more comfortable when you're trying to stand up or just trying new things! They also have an increased volume so make learning to balance a whole lot easier. Their construction means they are often cheaper than hard boards too!
If you've used a softboard and you're ready for an upgrade the Next Easy Rider provides a perfect base for this, it is a board with enough buoyancy to help you balance while still making it possible to start learning some proper shortboard turns.
When picking your first board, going for something that has a lot of width and is quite long will be beneficial. These boards will typically have more buoyancy and will be easier to catch waves on!
You'll need a leash to stop your board floating away. A boardbag to transport it around & protect it. Wax to apply before each use. A tail pad depending on the type of board you choose. Not sure? Get in touch.
This is arguably the most important thing to consider when buying your first board. The higher volume (typically in litres), the more float & stability you'll have, thus making it easier to learn on.
